PCOD (Poly-Cystic Ovarian Disease)

Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOD), also known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), is a hormonal disorder that affects women of reproductive age. It is characterized by irregular menstrual cycles, elevated levels of male hormones (androgens), and the development of small cysts in the ovaries. PCOD can lead to symptoms such as irregular periods, acne, weight gain, excessive hair growth (hirsutism), and fertility issues.

Ayurveda offers a comprehensive, holistic approach to managing PCOD, focusing on balancing the doshas, promoting detoxification, improving digestion, restoring hormonal equilibrium, and addressing lifestyle factors.

Ayurvedic Approach to Treating PCOD :

Balancing the Doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha): : The goal of Ayurvedic treatment is to restore harmony to these doshas, which will in turn regulate menstrual cycles, reduce symptoms, and support overall reproductive health.

Detoxifying the Body (Ama Cleansing):Panchakarma, a set of detoxification therapies, is often used in Ayurveda to cleanse the body. It includes treatments like Abhyanga (oil massage), Shirodhara (oil therapy), and Basti (medicated enemas) to remove toxins and restore balance.

Improving Digestion (Agni): Ayurvedic treatments for PCOD include improving digestion through dietary changes, herbal supplements, and lifestyle modifications.

Herbal Remedies for PCOD: Several herbs are known to support hormonal balance, regulate menstrual cycles, reduce excess androgen levels, and support the reproductive system in PCOD.
